I have never been one to define myself by what I do, but rather by who I am being. Through the course of my career, I have learned that my education and experience, while very important, are merely a glimmer of importance compared to the ability to listen, to build, and to honor relationships both personally and professionally. The carefully crafted Thank You note written with a vintage fountain pen, the uniquely selected bouquet of flowers to be given for no special occasion, the purposeful positive acknowledgement to each person entering a meeting regardless of time, the carefully drafted first cut of a public safety plan on quad paper, remembering that each person offers something unique and wonderful and that companies are made up of these unique persons; investing time to learn birthdays, children's names, pet's names, favorite coffee shops, and key stress areas has afforded me the gift of building a career but more importantly of building a life. As a degreed chemist with a Master of Arts in organizational psychology focusing on conflict resolution, I am both an analytical and a creative thinker. I thrive on problem solving, and I embrace the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people. Working as an employee of a leading utility in the United States for twenty-one years, I learned a multitude of corporate aspects that both enable and challenge success. My recent membership on the National Dam Safety Review Board provided me the honor of working with leaders in the hydroelectric and levee safety programs. Continuing the work in education, outreach, and building collaborative partnerships between emergency management agencies and hydroelectric asset owners and operators to ensure community resilience is ever-important work. It is, in fact, the foundational focus of MMR Solutions.
