Valar is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, and incorporated in the United States, Kenya, Madagascar and Mauritius, with operations extending across Africa and the Middle East. Outside Nairobi, we have a full-time presence and branch office in Mogadishu, Somalia and Toliara, Madagascar. These satellite offices facilitate our respective in country efforts and we frequently deploy to the field from all of the above locations. Our work is underpinned by an existing and ever-growing understanding of the security, political, and cultural conditions and dynamics wherever we work.

Through our previous and ongoing efforts in the region, Valar understands the demands, risks and sensitivities of operating in some of the world’s most challenging and complex environments. To succeed in our efforts, we leverage our experience and capability across various functional domains, namely information and analysis; training and mentoring; operations and program implementation; and risk management. By combining these skills, we have successfully aided US, UK, and European governments, non-governmental organizations, and commercial corporations in countering violent extremism, mobilizing and demobilizing security forces, facilitating peace processes, and strengthening local capacity to respond to security-related events.
