  About Me

Robert D. (Bob) Bush is the President of Altron, Incorporated. He assumed his position in January 2017, having served as Vice President for Business Development for 9 months. Mr. Bush is a high energy, self starter with over thirty three years experience and demonstrated leadership ability in the strategic planning, design, development, installation, test, evaluation, and execution of advanced solutions for information technology and C4ISR programs within the US Military and Federal Government agencies. Excels in building teams of competent professionals focused on results. Attained Civil Service Rank of GM-15 (or O6 equivalent) in September 1995. Began his career at NAVELEXCEN Charleston in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) Engineering Division, ultimately serving as their Lead Project Engineer for the National Airspace Modernization Program for the Navy’s shore-based ATC. Promoted as the NAVELEXCEN Charleston Corporate Information Officer (CIO), he served twelve years as a Senior Government Manager responsible for strategic planning, design, implementation and maintenance of SPAWAR Systems Center Charleston enterprise wide communications and information technology infrastructure, business applications environment, and CIO policy formulation. Served nearly 5 years as President of Barling Bay, and guided the company from an unprofitable financial posture, to profitability exceeding $4M in profits (annual); with growth increases of professional personnel over ten-fold (from 20 employees to over 250 employees); and revenue generation from roughly $750k to $45M within that timeframe. Then as a Senior Vice President for GovSG, Mr. Bush served to provide resources integration for the orchestration of GovSG’s technical programs, personnel and business growth. During the 2-year timeframe at GovSG, Mr. Bush served as a catalyst and key factor in the overall growth of the company, overseeing the company doubling in size of personnel from 43 persons to 90 total employees, with correlating revenue increases. Now as the President at Altron, Inc, Bush has overseen an increase in engineering revenues already by more than 30%. Active in the community, he is a board member of the University of South Carolina, College of Engineering & Computing, Industry Advisory Board (and personally championed the successful initiative for The University of South Carolina to be designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education) as well as being a member of the tri-county area local high schools’ Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) Education & Development for Graduation Employment. Previously he was a Board Member of the Charleston Chamber of Commerce’s Education Foundation, and of the Advanced Security Technology Research Alliance (ASTRA). He is also a member of the Charleston Chapters of Women in Defense, the Armed Forces Communications Engineering Association (AFCEA), the Charleston Defense Contractors Association, the U. S. Naval Institute, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). He has held leadership positions in the Coastal South Carolina Section for more than 2 years. He is a strong supporter of the Parent Teacher Associations for South Carolina and Dorchester District 2 schools, having served as President at Fort Dorchester High School in North Charleston, SC. He has lectured for the University of South Carolina Alumni’s youth education program and routinely spoken to MBA students at The Citadel and to Master’s students at Strayer University on the aspects of tying Information Technology Solutions to Business Strategies & Leadership, Communication Skills & High Performance Organization concepts, respectively. Mr. Bush has volunteered countless hours for local charities including the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure, Junior Achievement, Tri-County Special Olympics, The Summerville Area Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, as well as starting and ensuring the success of the Summerville Little League Baseball program. He has been a speaker for the “Red Ribbon Drug-Free Week” and a mentor at Hanahan Middle School, Hanahan, SC. At Altron, he is responsible for all normal technological and business operations of leading, coordinating and managing corporate strategic plans, workforce development and employee value propositions, fiduciary controls and fiscal stability, internal and external communications, contractual partnership relationships, customer service, and all other policies as they related to running a multi-million-dollar organization. At an execution level this includes supervising and directing staff and technical workforces that provide Research & Development, Engineering services, Professional Management services & analyses, and Acquisition support services for leading Federal Government and Military agencies. Recently guided new special emphasis for Altron in R&D and engineering services area including systems architecture, systems engineering, systems integration, Enterprise Web Portals, Collaborative Systems, IV&V testing; deployment, management, operation, & maintenance, Cybersecurity & Enterprise network security; Software development & support, Knowledge Management, and network design.
